Dirk’s partner Johanna is a successful dressage rider and trainer. For more than six years she managed the Nymphenburg Stud near Oldenburg and brought many horses up to the highest level of the sport. Together with the two most successful horses of her career to date, Nymphenburgs Rockport & Nymphenburgs Oligarch, she claimed several high placings including a victory in the Grand Prix Special in Neumunster. Since March 2014 she lives and trains together with Dirk. Alongside the every day training of her own horses, she coaches a number of students in Germany, Asia and the USA, as well as supports Dirk with his dressage both at home and at major competitions.
Sabrina is Dirks Head-Girl. She works for him as a rider and joined the team more than ten years ago.
She did her trainee (2008) and master (2013) certificate while working for Dirk and finished both with the “Stensbeck” award.
Her first event horse and school master Divolo carried her from intro up to three star level and to the individual title at the European Young Rider Championships at Blair Castle in 2007. Since his retirement in 2010 she concentrated on producing young horses whilst bringing her own Flick Flack all the way up to 3* level.
Within her role as riding head girl she helps Dirk to produce and compete the young horses whilst also managing the yard at home.
Ben joined the team in 2015. Before he was a member of the riding army in Warendorf and spend some time at the show jumping stable of Christian Ahlmann. In 2011 he took part at the European Championships for Young Riders in Blair Castle. Ben’s current ride Lucchino has been given to him from Dirk in 2013. Whilst competing him internationally he is now helping Dirk and Sabrina to produce and present the young horses.
Kate is the new head groom in our team. She joined us at the end of 2017. Aged 30, she has already gained plenty of experience as a professional show groom with riders around the globe. Having worked for New Zealand’s Bruce Goodin or Beezie Madden in the USA, she knows her business well enough to have become a valuable member of the team right from the start. Kate has a wonderful calm and patient way of looking after the horses and we are grateful that she is part of our team from now on.
Julia is our current working student who is going to stay with us all the way through 2018. Aged 17, she has completed secondary school last year and would now like to find out all about the job of a professional horse rider. With Dirk, Sabrina and Ben all having completed this education, there is plenty to learn for her at our stables and we are very happy to have her with us for the 2018 season.
Yoshi came over to Europe more than 20 years ago and has been based and trained with Dirk since 2009.
His long list of achievements includes an individual gold in Eventing at the Asian Games 2006 and team gold and individual bronze in 2010. He represented Japan at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen 2006 and Kentucky in 2010 and at the Olympic Games in Honkong in 2008. In Rio 2016 he finished a fantastic individual 20th on Duke of Cavan. In 2017 the pair came a remarkable 8th at Badminton CCI****. With another World and Asian Games coming up in 2018 his eyes are focused on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where we would like to represent Japan in front of his home crowds.
Our farrier David is from England where he learned at the Hereford School of Farriery. Several years ago he moved to Germany where he is now shoeing the horses of many international showjumping and event riders. For more than ten years he has been looking after Dirk’s horses for which he will continue to come all the way from Melle near Osnabruck to Holstein on a weekly basis.
