Travelling all the way down to Gut Weiherhof in south Germany, home of the wonderful Vogg Family, has once more been worth every single mile travelled. Not just because the entire team at Gut Weiherhof provides every competitor with such a warm welcome, but also because the challenging but fair cross country courses always offer a lot to learn for every horse.
Baxter felt very good in the CIC** when doing another training competition before heading for the CIC*** at Marbach in a couple of weeks. A 42 dressage, steady round across country and clear show jumping took him into 7th position overall.
Catelan, who competed in the CIC*, did a very nice test in the dressage to lie in 2nd place on a score of 38.0. Across country he felt very confident and bold up until fence 19 where he kind of forgot to stretch out his legs and lost his balance in the landing. Luckily nothing happened and although not crossing the finish line he will definitely have learned a lot from this.
Very pleasant has been the performance of Unteam de la Cense who improved in all three phases since his first 1* a couple of weeks ago. He started with a really nice dressage to lie in second place together with Catelan on 38.0. Across country he did a nice clear but slow round that gave him another boost of confidence. With one pole down in the jumping he only just missed his first 1* placing and we much look forward to see him grow further with more routine he will get.
Clapton ridden by Ben did a lovely douple clear and came 6th in the CIC*. His second ride, NZB Port Royal did well in the dressage and super across country and after rolling two poles in the final jumping finished 8th in the CIC**.
