Review and prospect

The 2015 season provided us with a number of very happy and exciting ups but sadly concluded with a rather sad frustration.

Baxter had another very good year in 2015. After very good outings in Houghton Hall, Luhmuhlen and Aachen he had his highlight at the European Championships at Blair Castle to come home with the team title and a wonderful individual 7th. After having his well-deserved holiday with long hacks and hours in the field he has now come back for his light winter work and already seems more than excited for his forthcoming challenges in 2016.

Call me Honey, Navarino and Tom came home with a number of very good results from their 1 and 2* shows last season, of which especially the Top 3 placings at Houghton and Arville proved that all three of them were on the right way to become our future hopefuls.
However, sadly Navarino will not continue the journey towards the next level in 2016. In December he suffered from a sudden eye infection that although getting better on the short term, in the end had caused so much damage that he had to have his left eye removed. Although being perfectly healthy otherwise and for sure will handle his new challenge perfectly well on the long term, he will not be able to rise until his full potential and make the career he was supposed to on the highest level of the sport. As disappointed and frustrating this is, we will now find a new rider for him with whom he will still be able to enjoy the sport at a lower level.

Another future hopeful to be exited about is the 7y old Catelan, who in 2015 has been presented in young horses classes by Ben and who in 2016 will step up to 1* level.
We are looking forward to see him grow and also very grateful that Freya Rethmeier, Baxter’s owner has bought him to stay at Dirk’s last autumn.

In addition to the competition horses we much look forward to the new season with all of the other youngsters, of whom some have already done very well at young-horse level in 2015 and some have arrived at the end of last year and are now being carefully prepared for their first competitions at the beginning of the season.

Again, we would like to thank all our supporters, sponsors, friends and fans for being with us and wishing us well in 2015. We very much look forward to more wonderful and exciting moments with our horses in 2016 and to share our experiences with you all.
