A happy weekend at Felix’s home turf in Radolfzell with Prince and new ride Black Tuxedo competing in the CIC2* and Call me Honey and Sevenoaks in the CIC*.
Prince improved a little on his dressage at Kreuth, though still not where he can be, to score of 50.6. After having a slow round last week, I pushed him a little more this week and he responded well and gave me a beautiful clear inside the time. On Sunday he had one down but jumped very well. He is feeling better each time and I am excited about his first CCI*** at Bramham in May.
With new ride Black Tuxedo was all about getting to know each other better at a competition. He did a 53.1 dressage and felt very good across country. Across country he went steady but well in a good rhythm. For him time was not the focus so he picked up a number of time faults. In the final jumping he had just one down and again gave me a good ride.
Sevenoaks started with a decent test of 42.9 to be right up there in 5th position after dressage. He was superb cross country and did a lovely clear with no time faults. On Sunday he went for a very tight finish with 4 horses less than a fence away from each other. Unfortunately he rolled two poles though his overall jumping was very good and he still finished a good 9th.
Call me Honey did a 47 dressage and a lovely and confident clear across country. He got a few time faults but since this was his first outing this year time was not the focus for him either. He show jumped well on Sunday with just one down to stil finish within the placing.
