This was a tough cross country day and Baxter really tried his heart out today. He struggled much more with the ground than expected. Especially in the take off he was hardly able to gain all the energy ne normally needs for his extraordinary but very careful jumping technique. He touched the first few fences with his front feet, which for him with his very careful frontlet technique is very unusual. He had a run out at both the first and last water for which I cannot even blame him for. He really fought all the way round the course and tried so hard in these difficult conditions. He trotted very well tonight and will hopefully complete tomorrow with a good final show-jumping round.
